Happy birthday mama!!

THIS IS THE GREATEST WOMAN IN THE WHOLE WORLD! SHE IS THE MOST THOUGHTFUL PERSON I'VE EVER MET. SHE IS ALWAYS THINKING OF OTHERS BEFORE HERSELF AND MAKING SURE EVERYONE ELSE IS HAPPY. SHE TRUELY PUTS OTHERS BEFORE HERSELF AND WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR ANYONE. I LOVE YOU MOM, I HOPE I CAN BE THE AMAZING MOM THAT YOU HAVE BEEN TO ME. I AM SO GLAD THAT LONDON HAS SUCH A GREAT GRANDMA :)

It was my mama's birthday last week. I think she had a pretty good day. She watched London that day because I had work. I told London to be a good girl for grandma; and from what I hear she was a good girl!!!
LOVE YOU MOM!!!!

Some interesting facts!!

I have decided that I am going to try and find an interesting or informative fact each week about nutrition, exercise, or physical/mental health. I want to continue my education on these subjects while I'm at home. I figured I went to school for all of these years studying what I absolutely love (exercise science/fitness and wellness) so I may as well keep learning so I don't forget it all. I thought I'd share it with those who are interested. So here is my first post!!

OSTEOPOROSIS

We hear about hip fractures all of the time in elderly people, we can prevent this!

Osteoporosis affects so many people, especially menopausal women. To help this from happening to us we all know that we need calcium in our bodies, because when we don't get enough calcium intake our body takes the calcium from our bones and uses it to help our body carry out it's everyday functions. This is the same concept of when someone isn't taking in enough calories. Our body will find a way to keep functioning so it will start taking from the muscles. (our main concern is that it may take from the heart, which is a muscle)
God's Pharmacy! Amazing!
A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye.. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye... and YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.
A Tomato has four chambers and is red.. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.
Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.
A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.
Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.
Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% calcium and these foods are 23% calcium. If you don't have enough calacium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body. Although the calcium in rhubarb is in the oxalate form and hard to assimulate.
Avocadoes, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.
Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries
Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.
Onions look like the body's cells. Today's research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

So I am going to load up on calcium AND also keep up the impact exercise! This does not mean you
have to use weights, although I am a huge fan of using weights and find that it will help in more ways than one (you will not only help build bone strength, but you loose WAY more calories the 48 hours after lifting than you do with cardio. I am not down playing cardio, but weights actually help us to burn calories long after we work out. The more muscle we have in our body the more we burn at rest!! YES, this means while we are sleeping!! What more could we ask for than to burn calories while sleeping.) Our bones need impact to keep them strong, so running, jump roping, walking, weights, anything to add a little impact on the bones it GREAT!!!
I learned yesterday that you can increase your bone density by 10% each year by simply doing a little exercise!!!

Lake Powell

We had a GREAT time in Powell this year, I am so glad that we went!!!

Haulin' London to the houseboat :)
She loved the water. I thought I'd get a bigger reaction than I did!
This picture makes it look like she didn't like the water, but I think she just was done taking pictures.

Me, Terrance, Ty and CJ way up a the top.
We hiked clear up to this crevise in the rock. It was quite the hike. It was really fun though. It was just above where we parked the house boat, we had a GREAT spot this year. It stayed shady until about 8:30 am it was nice, usually the sun is shining in your eyes at about 6:00 am
This is the view of the hike we took. You can see our houseboat along the shoreline. It was a beautiful view

Yes, this is my grandpa being stubborn and digging up a trench!!! What an incredible man he is. Such a strong spiritual leader and example. Love you Grandpa!!!
We sure missed grandma this trip, she wasn't able to make it due to her health, but we sure hope she can come next year; it just isn't the same without her.
